The Welch & Dickey loop is the areas most popular hike. Offering fantastic views from many locations along its mostly rocky-faced terrain. Micro spikes will be mandatory for this hike.

About the event
Meeting Location & Time: Waterville Valley Recreation Department at 9am. After a group check-in, participants will drive their own vehicles to the trailhead. Before Hiking: We will review required equipment, safety protocols, and the route for the hike. LEVEL 2: Moderate to difficult terrain. May be rough, steep, and involve un-bridged stream crossings. What to bring: 1.Clothing appropriate for outdoor travel (non- cotton) Synthetic or wool materials are ideal for cold/ wet environments. 2. Waterproof/wind proof top and pants 3.Two insulating layers ( synthetic or wool) 4. Extra socks (non- cotton) 5. Winter hiking boots & gaiters 6. Warm hat and gloves/ mittens 7. Hand warmer packets ( hot hands) 8. Backpack 9. Trekking poles, snowshoes, or micro spikes (depending on current conditions) 10. Water (insulated container helps prevent freezing) 1-2 liters 11. Snacks ( lightweight & high energy foods) 12. Personal items (cell phone, camera, medications, etc) 13. Headlamp 14. A smile & positive attitude! All hikes require strong physical fitness All of our guides are Wilderness First Aid certified Space is limited to 6 spots Minimum of 2 participants for program to run You must have all of the gear listed in the description to attend. The online winter hiking class is a prerequisite to attend. WVRD members receive $12 off half day winter hikes and $15 off full day winter hikes after completing the online class.
