About the event
When Canterbury Shaker Village was founded in 1792, George Washington was President, and most Americans still lived on the family farm. The Shakers faced the challenges of 18th and 19th century life by creating a self-sufficient community. They lived, worked, and worshiped in structures they built, used furniture, tools, and cabinetry they crafted, nourished the community using cutting-edge agricultural practices, and created a complex mill pond system to fuel their industries.
Join Kyle Sandler, Director of Interpretation and Education at Canterbury Shaker Village, as he explores the fascinating history of this Community and some upcoming initiatives.
