Embrace the friluftsliv ("open air life" rough translation of the Norwegian) this winter on a series of winter trail hikes with Tyler Durham. In addition to perennial Waterville Valley favorites, hikers will sample some other great options in surrounding towns. Many trail surfaces may be encountered: packed snow/ice possibly with rocks and roots exposed or fresh snow on top with occasional obstacles. Trails may be rough, steep, and involve un-bridged stream crossings. Rattlesnake Mountain (Rumney): Enjoy the expansive views of the Asquamchumaukee River valley from the open summit of this small but mighty mountain and see the quaint village of Rumney from a new elevated perspective. Distance: 2.3 miles Elevation Gain: 900' National Park Service Hike Difficulty Rating: Moderate (64.3) From the National Park Service- "Moderate Numerical Rating: 50-100 A moderate hike is generally suitable for novice hikers who want a bit of a challenge. The terrain will involve a moderate incline and may have some steeper sections. Generally 3 to 5 miles." 10am -2pm Member/ $5 Guest/$20 Transportation from WVRD provided. All hikes require solid physical fitness. All hikes will be led by a Wilderness First Responder, or someone certified in Wilderness First Aid. All Hikes Meet at WVRD 15 min before start time unless otherwise noted. Space is limited. PLEASE NOTE: There is a 2 participant minimum for courses. Refunds will be issued in the event of a cancellation.
